starbucks chocolate drinks

Starbucks chocolate drinks make up a huge part of the company’s coffee repertoire.

As a former Starbucks barista, I’ve put together a list of the 25 best Starbucks chocolate drinks.

Let’s take a look at each so you can find your new go-to order.

25 Best Chocolate Drinks to Order at Starbucks

Starbucks offers various chocolate drinks. If you don’t feel creative, you can just choose some of them.

If you want to try something more interesting, there are chocolate drinks invented by TikTokers, which are on a secret menu.

I will give you the ingredients of these hidden gems so you can order them at Starbucks.

Here are my top 25 Starbucks chocolate drinks.

1. Caffe Mocha

The most popular (and common) Starbucks chocolate drink is the Caffe Mocha. You can ask the barista to serve it hot or cold.

The classic Caffe Mocha is made up of:

  • 2% Milk
  • Mocha sauce (2-4 pumps, depending on the size)
  • Espresso (1-2 shots)
  • Whipped cream
  • 175mg of caffeine (Grande)
  • 350 calories (Grande)

2. White Chocolate Mocha

3. Iced White Chocolate Mocha

Iced white chocolate mocha is simply the cold version of white chocolate mocha.

The main difference between the hot and cold versions is the milk used. Since it’s a cold drink, the barista won’t use steamed milk.

Also, the calories are a bit higher.

An iced white mocha is made of:

  • 2% milk
  • White chocolate mocha sauce (2-4 pumps)
  • Espresso (2-3 shots)
  • Whipped cream
  • 420 calories (Grande)
  • 150mg of caffeine (Grande)

NOTE
Even though they’re iced, white mochas come with whipped cream on top. If you don’t want it on your drink, make sure to let your barista know.

How to Order Chocolate Drinks at Starbucks Like a Pro

Although I’m an ex-Starbucks barista, I know the fear of messing up your drink order all too well.

It somehow feels embarrassing not to be able to speak the Starbucks jargon when you place your order.

The good news is, it’s a lot easier than it looks. To place your order, use this formula:

Cup Size + Temperature (if you want extra hot or Kid’s temp) + Milk Type (if you don’t want the default 2%) + Base Drink + Extras

Ex: Can I get a tall, extra-hot soy mocha with two pumps of raspberry syrup and no whipped cream?

A few other pro tips for ordering drinks at Starbucks include:

  • You can get extra pumps of the same syrup for no extra cost, but if you ask for an additional flavor syrup, you’ll be charged a few cents for it.
  • When you order a secret menu item, you’ll need to tell the barista the base drink and the extra ingredients. Most baristas aren’t familiar with the secret menu recipes.

5 Ways to Add Chocolate to Your Starbucks Drink

If you want to try making your own chocolate Starbucks drinks, there are a couple of ways you can do so.

  1. Mocha sauce or drizzle: Ask for a few pumps of mocha syrup or mocha drizzle on your drink. Mocha sauce or drizzle is vegan, too!
  2. Add chocolate chips: You can add java (frappuccino) chips to any drink, even hot ones!
  3. Add malt powder: malt powder brings out the chocolate flavors in your beverage, making it a great drink enhancement.
  4. Add chocolate cookie crumble: The chocolate cookie grind topping adds a chocolate cookie flavor to your drink. Order it on cold or hot drinks!
  5. Add chocolate syrup to your cold foam: Ask your barista to make chocolate cold foam instead of vanilla!

Final Thoughts

So there you have it! Those are 25 of the most chocolatey Starbucks drinks to satisfy your sweet tooth cravings.

So, which will it be? Will you order a standard mocha, or will you go for something new like a kit kat frap?
