This is the only coffee Frappuccino recipe you’ll ever need.
Believe me – it’s that good.
I’ve done a lot of experimenting, and I’m confident that this is the closest you’ll get to the real deal.
And the best part is, it couldn’t be more simple.
So, ready to find out how to make the best Starbucks copycat Frappuccino?
Let’s dive straight into it!
What Is A Coffee Frappuccino?
The Frappuccino (not to be confused with a frappe) has got to be one of the most loved Starbucks drinks of all time.
You can get them in a bunch of different flavors – but the coffee Frappuccino is the classic.
It’s a blended iced coffee drink with freshly brewed black coffee and milk.
And it’s absolutely delicious.
There’s nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than a nice, frosty frappuccino.
It cools you down and gives you a caffeine kick all at the same time. I’m sure any coffee lover will agree that it doesn’t get much better than that.
Most Starbucks Frappuccino flavors are topped with whipped cream, syrup, and other toppings. But not the coffee Frappuccino. It’s simple – served straight, with no extra toppings.
It’s a little sweet, because the Starbucks Frappuccino syrup that goes into it contains sugar. Still, it isn’t nearly as sweet as some of the other flavors.
How To Make A Classic Frappuccino At Home
Starbucks does a pretty good job at making these.
But guess what?
You can do just as good of a job yourself at home.
The method I’m about to share with you is a foolproof way of making an amazing Frappuccino at home, just like the one you get at Starbucks.
The secret is in the base syrup.
If you’ve ever tried to make a Frappuccino before, and you haven’t been satisfied – you probably weren’t using a base syrup.
It contains xanthan gum powder, which is the key to getting the texture spot on. And trust me, getting the texture right is absolutely essential when it comes to making a good Frappuccino.
So without further ado, here’s how you can make the perfect Frap at home.
The Ingredients
You’ll need the following things to make a large Frap:
- 1 cup of freshly brewed strong coffee
- 1 cup of milk
- 2 cups of ice
- 3 tablespoons of Frappuccino base syrup
Like I said, the base syrup is key.
You can buy one ready made, but you can also easily make some yourself by following these steps:
- Simmer ¾ of a cup of sugar and ½ a cup of water over low heat to make a simple syrup
- Pour your simple syrup into a blender and add a teaspoon of xanthan gum powder
- Blend them together and transfer the syrup into a jar
This will make more than you need for one drink, but you can store it in the fridge for up to a month. It’s a good idea to make more, so you don’t have to make it again every single time.
That way, the next time you feel like a Frappuccino, it’ll be a much quicker process to make one.
As far as the coffee goes, you can use any brewing method you like. But since it’s blended with milk and ice cubes, I personally like to use a stronger brew to get a more intense coffee flavor.
If you’re feeling decadent, try subbing half of the milk for heavy cream – or even ice cream. Yum!
And, of course, the milk can be subbed for any plant milk. Oat milk, almond milk, soy milk – you name it. All of these are excellent options if you’re making a vegan Frappuccino.
The Method
Once you’ve gathered all your ingredients, all you have to do is follow these simple steps:
- Pour all of the ingredients into a blender
- Blend until it’s completely smooth and there are no chunks of ice
- Pour into a glass
- Enjoy!
It’s a wonderfully easy beverage to make.
Your blender does all of the work for you.
Well, OK – not all of the work. You still have to brew the coffee and make the base syrup.
But once you’ve done that, the rest is a piece of cake.
