33 Best Hot Drinks At Starbucks You Need To Order

So many of us have our standard order at Starbucks.

But sometimes it’s good to branch out.

These are some of the best hot drinks at Starbucks you have to try.

Let’s get to it!

33 Best Hot Drinks at Starbucks You Have to Try

There are so many hot drinks on the Starbucks menu you can get paralyzed by all the options.

These are some of my favorite hot drinks to give you some ideas and hopefully introduce a few drinks you might not have known about.

NOTE
All caffeine and calorie counts are for the Grande size.

1. Pistachio Latte

Pistachio can be a divisive flavor. But if you’re anything like me, you like it every now and then when paired with something sweet.

Starbucks’ Pistachio Latte is a great combination of pistachio and salted brown butter cookies.

Great for a subtler pistachio flavor mixed with espresso.

Ingredients:

  • Steamed milk
  • Espresso
  • Pistachio sauce
  • Salted brown butter cookie flavor topping

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 320

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for a Pistachio Latte, it’s on the menu!

2. Blonde Roast

Want a lighter, more caffeinated morning cup of coffee?

Starbucks’ Blonde Roast brew is a great choice.

I find that light roasts have more unique flavors and are generally tastier black than medium or dark roasts.

Try the Blonde Roast when you want something a little different from your morning cup, but don’t want espresso or milk.

Ingredients: Starbucks Blonde Roast coffee

Caffeine: 360mg

Calories: 5

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for Blonde Roast drip coffee.

3. Pike Place Roast

Starbucks’ Pike Place roast is the signature blend. It’s a medium roast coffee that balances flavor and depth.

It’s got subtle notes of chocolate and toasted nuts.

I think it’s the perfect daily drinker and actually goes well with cream and sugar.

After all, it’s one of the oldest Starbucks blends available.

Ingredients: Starbucks Pike Place Roast coffee

Caffeine: 310mg

Calories: 5

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for Pike Place Roast drip coffee

4. Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato

This is the lesser-known cousin to the Pumpkin Spice Latte. For those of us who aren’t big pumpkin fans, it’s a great autumn drink.

It combines the flavors of apple, creamy oat milk, and brown sugar with espresso.

To be honest, this is my favorite drink when the weather starts to get a little chilly.

Ingredients:

  • Espresso
  • Oat milk
  • Apple brown sugar syrup
  • Spiced apple drizzle

Caffeine: 170mg

Calories: 320

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for an Apple Crisp Oat Milk Macchiato, it’s on the menu when in season

5. Caramel Macchiato

What list would be complete without the iconic Caramel Macchiato?

It’s a staple on the Starbucks menu, and for good reason.

It combines caramel, espresso, and foamed milk into a delicious, layered hot drink that’s great all year round.

Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Espresso
  • Vanilla syrup
  • Caramel drizzle

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 250

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for a Caramel Macchiato, it’s always on the menu

6. Hot Chocolate

Don’t want any caffeine in your hot drink?

Then hot chocolate is a great choice.

Thick, creamy, and with deep chocolate, you’ll find a great choice for avoiding caffeine. It’s also a good drink for the kiddos. You can also choose a white hot chocolate or peppermint hot chocolate if you want a bit of a twist.

Ingredients:

Caffeine: none

Calories: 370

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for hot chocolate, it’s a timeless classic

7. Vanilla Creme

Chocolate and vanilla are the two most standard sweet flavors.

So, why not have a vanilla-flavored version of hot chocolate?

Enter the Vanilla Creme.

It’s perfect for when you don’t want espresso, and maybe don’t like chocolate. But you still want a sweet hot beverage.

Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Vanilla syrup
  • Whipped cream

Caffeine: none

Calories: 350

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for a Vanilla Creme, it’s on the menu

8. Cinnamon Dolce Creme

Not a fan of chocolate or vanilla?

Still don’t want espresso?

Well then, why not give the Cinnamon Dolce Creme a go?

It’s like hot chocolate, but it tastes like cinnamon instead. Another great drink for the kids, or for when you just want a taste of cinnamon.

  • Milk
  • Cinnamon dolce syrup
  • Whipped cream

Caffeine: none

Calories: ~350

Sizes: tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for Cinnamon Dolce Creme

9. Mocha

The Mocha combines two of my favorite things: espresso and chocolate.

Chocolate and espresso go so well together, I have to convince myself to try something different every time I go.

Otherwise, I would only ever get a Mocha.

It’s perfect for a sweet drink that gives you a little caffeine boost along the way.

Ingredients:

  • Espresso
  • Milk
  • Mocha sauce
  • Whipped cream

Caffeine: 175mg

Calories: 370

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for Mocha or Cafe Mocha

10. Peppermint Mocha

Want to add a little something extra to your Mocha?

Then I would suggest the Peppermint Mocha.

You get all the goodness of a standard mocha, but with the peppermint syrup added.

And, I mean, what better addition to chocolate and espresso than peppermint?

Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Espresso
  • Mocha sauce
  • Peppermint syrup
  • Whipped cream

Caffeine: 175mg

Calories: 440

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for a Peppermint Mocha

11. White Chocolate Mocha

Okay, so this is a Mocha made with white chocolate instead of dark chocolate.

And it’s awesome.

It’s creamy, sweet, and delicious, and you still get a little caffeine boost.

Be aware, though, that white chocolate sauce isn’t dairy free. If that’s a concern, I’d stick with regular mocha instead.

Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Espresso
  • White chocolate mocha sauce
  • Whipped cream

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 430

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for White Chocolate Mocha

12. London Fog Tea Latte

London Fogs are great drinks for rainy or overcast days when you want to curl up inside.

It combines black tea, bergamot, and lavender with milk and vanilla syrup.

Trust me, if you haven’t had one before, you really should try one.

  • Milk
  • Black tea
  • Bergamot essence
  • Lavender flower

13. Royal English Breakfast Tea Latte

Like the London Fog, this tea latte combines milk and tea.

The Royal English Breakfast Latte uses black tea and cane sugar instead of bergamot and vanilla.

It’s a little heartier, but still sweet and with just a tiny bit of caffeine.

  • Milk
  • Black tea
  • Liquid cane sugar

Caffeine: 40mg

Calories: 150

Simple, delicious, and a staple on coffee shop menus around the world.

The Vanilla Latte is a classic and deserves a spot on any list.

Calories: 250

16. Blonde Vanilla Latte

Like the Vanilla Latte, but made with the super smooth Blonde Roast espresso.

The Blonde espresso adds a layer of creaminess and sweetness. It’s like getting extra sweetener but without the sugar.

Give it a shot if you usually get a vanilla latte and want to change it up a little.

Ingredients:

  • Blonde Roast espresso
  • Milk
  • Vanilla syrup

Caffeine: 170 mg

Calories: 250

How to order: Ask for Blonde Vanilla Latte

17. Espresso

Want a low calorie Starbucks drink that will give you a strong caffeine kick?

I’d recommend trying just straight espresso at least once.

It’s a totally different experience from sugary lattes or brewed coffee.

Yes, it’s small, but it packs a punch. Both in flavor and caffeine.

Extra points (and caffeine) for ordering a double!

Ingredients: espresso

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 10

Sizes: 2-4oz

How to order: Just ask for an espresso

18. Chai Tea Latte

Chai tea is spiced black tea. It has cinnamon, clove, and a few other warm spices.

That black tea is then combined with steamed milk to create the Chai Tea Latte.

My mom swears by Chai Lattes, and I can’t really blame her.

It’s not a ton of caffeine and is a deliciously smooth drink.

As a bonus, you can get a Dirty Chai Latte by asking for a shot of espresso.

Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Water
  • Chai Tea concentrate

Caffeine: 95mg

Calories: 240

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for a Chai Tea Latte (or a Dirty Chai if you want espresso)

19. Flat White

Flat White
Photo from: @jmelgoza81

The Flat White comes from our Aussie friends.

It’s like a latte, but without the foam. If you’re a fan of a no-foam latte, then you’re pretty much drinking a Flat White.

It’s smooth, still has milk and espresso, but drinks easier and is less filling because of the lack of foam.

I personally love Flat Whites for how thin they are.

Plus, they’re made with Ristretto shots instead of regular espresso shots.

Ingredients: milk, espresso

Caffeine: 130mg

Calories: 170

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti (they come standard as tall instead of grande)

How to order: Ask for a Flat White, but make sure you get the right size because they come standard as tall

20. Honey Almond Milk Flat White

Want to spice up your Flat White?

Try getting the Honey Almond Milk Flat White.

It’s made with non dairy milk instead of the regular 2% milk and adds honey to give the drink a little sweetness.

But it still has the thin texture of a Flat White. And personally, I like the taste of steamed almond milk instead of regular milk in this drink.

Ingredients:

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 120

Sizes: Standard Tall, but available in a short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for Honey Almond milk Flat White

21. Espresso Con Panna

Espresso Con Panna
Photo from: @wgovas

If you don’t like straight espresso, but also don’t want a ton of milk in your drink, I’d recommend the Espresso Con Panna.

It’s a single or double shot of espresso topped with a dollop of whipped cream.

So it’s sweet and still has that classic espresso taste.

It’s a great option for an afternoon dessert drink!

Ingredients: espresso, whipped cream

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 35

Sizes: Doppio (double shot)

How to order: Ask for Espresso Con Panna

22. Cafe Misto

The Cafe Misto is a personal favorite of mine.

It’s half brewed coffee and half steamed milk.

The Cafe Misto is a great option for when you don’t feel like espresso, but want a little coffee with some steamed milk.

It’s smooth, delicious, and great any time of the day.

Ingredients: brewed coffee, milk

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 110

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for Cafe Misto

23. Steamed Apple Juice

The name pretty much says it all with this one: it’s steamed apple juice.

I love this drink on fall afternoons. But really it’s great anytime.

It’s another good drink for the kids, too.

Your barista simply steamed apple juice as they would milk for a latte.

Ingredients: apple juice

Caffeine: none

Calories: 220

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for Steamed Apple Juice

24. Caramel Apple Spice

Steamed Apple Juice isn’t enough for you?

Spice it up with cinnamon syrup, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle.

It’s a great way to add depth to a great drink.

And it’s still perfect for the kids (or for you)!

  • Apple juice
  • Cinnamon dolce syrup
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel drizzle

Caffeine: none

Calories: 380

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: ask for Caramel Apple Spice

25. Matcha Tea Latte

Matcha has taken the world by storm in the last few years.

It’s a green tea powder that gets mixed and steamed with milk to create a smooth and velvety green tea latte.

It’s a good option for something smooth without a ton of caffeine.

Ingredients: milk, matcha powder

Caffeine: 80mg

Calories: 240

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: ask for Matcha Tea Latte (or just Matcha)

26. Pumpkin Spice Latte

Do I even need to write anything about the PSL?

It’s maybe the most famous Starbucks drink of all time.

But it holds up to all the hype. It’s a latte flavored with pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove.

And it’s topped with whipped cream.

Ingredients:

  • Milk
  • Pumpkin spice sauce
  • Espresso
  • Whipped cream

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 390

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for a Pumpkin Spice Latte

27. Red Eye Coffee

A Red Eye is a shot of espresso poured into brewed coffee.

And yeah, it’s as intense as it sounds.

It’s great for those mornings when you need an extra boost to get you started.

And it goes pretty well with cream and sugar if you don’t like the taste of double coffee.

Ingredients: brewed coffee, espresso

Caffeine: ~160mg

Calories: ~10

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for a Red Eye

28. Cafe Americano

Cafe Americano is an alternative to brewed coffee.

Basically, it’s just espresso and hot water.

It’s a good choice for when you want espresso, but not just a shot.

It tastes mostly like a strong brewed coffee.

Ingredients: brewed coffee, hot water

Caffeine: 225mg

Calories: 15

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for a Cafe Americano (or just Americano)

29. Honey Citrus Mint Tea

Legend has it that this tea creation used to be on the secret menu, but it got so popular that Starbucks put it on the regular menu.

It’s a mix of Jade Citrus Mint green tea, Peach Tranquility, steamed lemonade, and honey.

I know, it sounds like a lot but trust me, it’s amazing.

Ingredients:

  • Lemonade
  • Mint green tea
  • Peach tea
  • Honey blend

Caffeine: 16mg

Calories: 130

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for Honey Citrus Mint Tea

30. Mint Majesty

Mint Majesty is one of Starbucks’ herbal teas. That means it’s naturally caffeine-free.

It’s a mix of spearmint and peppermint, with a hint of lemon.

It’s a great summer tea that’s super refreshing even when it’s consumed hot.

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • Spearmint
  • Peppermint
  • Lemon

Caffeine: none

Calories: 0

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Ask for Mint Majesty

31. Peach Tranquility

Another of Starbucks’ herbal teas, Peach Tranquility is a mix of peach, pineapple, and chamomile with a hint of lemon.

It’s another refreshing summer tea that’s naturally caffeine-free.

And, it actually tastes pretty good with a splash of milk.

Ingredients:

  • Water
  • Peach
  • Apple
  • Pineapple
  • Chamomile
  • Lemon

Caffeine: none

Calories: 0

32. Brown Sugar Oak Milk Latte

This latte isn’t on the official menu, but it is still easy to order.

It’s a hearty hot drink that has espresso, oat milk, and brown sugar syrup.

This might be my favorite drink on the list. I prefer it in the cooler months, but I still order it in the summer sometimes.

33. Cappuccino

Cappuccino Starbucks
Photo from: @sara_sin_hache

This list wouldn’t be complete without the classic Cappuccino.

It’s a foamy espresso drink that’s good any time of day or year.

After all, the Cappuccino is one of the most basic espresso drinks in the world.

And it holds up after all this time.

Ingredients: milk, espresso

Caffeine: 150mg

Calories: 140

Sizes: short, tall, grande, venti

How to order: Just ask for a Cappuccino

Final Thoughts

With so many hot drinks at Starbucks, choosing one can be difficult.

If you’re looking for something new, I would recommend trying the Brown Sugar Oat Milk Latte.

It’s not on the official menu, but it’s easy to order.

Plus, it’s a great way to start branching out.
