Looking for the best coffee syrup on the market? We’ve rounded up the creme de la creme of syrups and reviewed them to help you find one that’s perfect.

In a rush? Our top choice for the best coffee syrup is DaVinci Gourmet Classic Coffee Syrup.

You don’t need to be a barista to enjoy your favorite coffee drinks.

Sometimes, all you need is a good syrup to step up your coffee-making game, but there’s much more to buying one than just choosing a flavor.

In this article, I’ll show you what the best coffee syrup options on the market are and what to look for on the ingredient list.

Let’s pick your poison!

1. DaVinci Gourmet Classic Coffee Syrup

DaVinci has been making coffee syrups for over 30 years now. Over time, the brand has broadened its taste range.

Aside from classic choices, such as caramel, chocolate, and Irish cream, there are some pretty unusual ones too. The list is long, but habanero and peach chipotle definitely stood out the most to me. Spicy coffee is not for everyone, but those that like it will enjoy these syrups.

Cane sugar is the sweetener of choice for this classic syrup line, but DaVinci does use other sweeteners for other products, including sugar-free syrups.

The brand prides itself in using only natural ingredients in all of its products. The DaVinci syrup line is Kosher-certified, too.

  • Sweetener: Cane sugar
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Huge
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

2. Jordan’s Skinny Syrups

Jordan’s Skinny Syrups is a well-known brand in the world of syrups. It started out making cocktails, but over the course of 12 years, it developed different syrup lines, including coffee syrups.

Jordan’s Skinny Syrups are marketed as guilt-free because they have zero sugar, calories, and carbs. You can be on pretty much any kind of diet, including keto and gluten-free, and enjoy your coffee spiced up with one of these syrups.

This little set contains all the classic coffee flavors, like hazelnut, mocha, and caramel syrup, but if you’re looking for something more unique, Jordan’s Skinny Syrups can do that, too. Glazed donut and toasted marshmallow are my personal favorites.

  • Sweetener: Sucralose
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Huge
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

3. Torani Fall Winter Syrup 4 Pack

There are some pretty big names in the world of syrup on this list, and Torani is definitely one of them. That comes as no surprise, given that the brand has been doing this for almost a hundred years.

Torani has over 150 flavors, from nutty to fruity, which is pretty impressive.

In terms of ingredients, Torani syrup sticks to the natural ones, all the while avoiding common allergens such as peanuts, tree nuts, dairy, soy, and eggs.

As for the sweetener, cane sugar is used in this line. There’s also a sugar-free line, which uses sucralose and Acesulfame potassium, which is known as ace-K.

The Fall-Winter syrup pack comes with all the classic cold-weather flavors. You’ve got pumpkin pie, peppermint, salted caramel, and brown sugar cinnamon, but if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous, you should definitely try butterscotch or Italian eggnog.

  • Sweetener: Cane sugar
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Huge
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

4. Upouria Coffee Syrup Variety Pack

Upouria coffee syrups might not come in 50 different flavors, but the brand covers all the iconic ones.

This variety pack comes with all-time favorites like mocha, French vanilla, and caramel flavor.

I love that you also get three pumps included in the purchase. Sure, you could find them in pretty much any store, but it’s nice not to have to go to the trouble of buying them yourself.

One note to those that are watching what they eat – these syrups have approximately 90 calories per serving.

The sugar-free line is limited, but it’s there. You get to choose between the two most popular flavors: French vanilla and caramel. For these two syrups, sucralose is used.

  • Sweetener: Sugar
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Limited
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

5. Holy Kakow Café Organic

This brand of organic coffee syrup uses only responsibly-sourced ingredients, which is always a plus. These syrups are handcrafted and packed in beautiful glass bottles.

One thing to note – if you notice liquid separation in your bottle, don’t throw it away. It didn’t go bad; this normally happens with all-natural, organically crafted syrups. You just need to shake it well before use.

Holy Kakow has a decent range of flavors. There are classic options like vanilla and hazelnut, as well as more interesting tastes, such as lavender and rose.

All the syrups contain organic evaporated cane juice as a sweetener. It’s made of sugar cane but goes through less processing than table sugar, so it keeps all the good nutrients.

  • Sweetener: Organic evaporated cane juice
  • Sugar-free options: No
  • Flavor range: Decent
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

6. Ghirardelli Coffee Sauce

I don’t usually like plastic packaging, but I’ve got to admit – this is as premium as plastic can get. The gold-toned squeeze bottle really looks and feels like a high-end product, and so does the content inside.

This five-bottle set is specially designed for spicing up espresso-based drinks. To enhance the flavor of rich-bodied coffee, you need rich syrup; that’s exactly what Ghirardelli offers. In fact, it’s called a sauce because of its thicker consistency.

Unfortunately, there are no sugar-free options. What’s more, the syrup is manufactured in a facility that handles tree nuts, eggs, and milk, so it may contain trace amounts of these ingredients. If you have allergies, this might not be the best syrup for you.

  • Sweetener: Fructose
  • Sugar-free options: No
  • Flavor range: Very limited
  • Standard packaging size: 16 fluid ounces

7. Starbucks Naturally Flavored Coffee Syrup

Given the brand’s popularity, it was about time Starbucks made its syrups available to all of us. The variety pack contains the most popular flavors: vanilla, hazelnut, and caramel, so you can make tons of the most iconic Starbucks drinks at home.

Starbucks really nailed these flavors, too; the vanilla is sweet and rich, the caramel syrup is smooth and buttery, and the hazelnut is strong and nutty.

As for the sweetener, the label just states “sugar.” Unfortunately, there’s no sugar-free version.

In case you’re wondering, each serving adds around 90 calories to your drink.

  • Sweetener: Sugar
  • Sugar-free options: No
  • Flavor range: Very limited
  • Standard packaging size: 12.17 fluid ounces

8. Monin Gourmet Flavorings Premium Coffee Collection

Monin is a name you’ve probably heard of since you can see the bottles displayed everywhere, from grocery stores to bars and cafés.

The flavor range is practically endless. Hickory smoke and golden turmeric might be the oddest options I’ve seen, but they’re worth trying for something different.

The Monin syrup line is made with pure cane sugar and contains only natural flavors. They’re GMO, dairy, and gluten-free, as well as Kosher-certified.

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that there are 15 different sugar-free flavors. Aside from classic options like hazelnut and vanilla, there are tons of other nutty and fruity flavors you can drink guilt-free.

  • Sweetener: Cane sugar
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Huge
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

9. Wholesome Yum Keto Coffee Syrup

Compared to the rest of the syrups I reviewed, this brand has limited flavor options. Two, to be exact: vanilla and hazelnut, but if quality wins over quantity, then Wholesome Yum syrups deserve a spot on this list.

These syrups are naturally sweetened with a blend of monk fruit extract and allulose. They are both safe for diabetics, as well as children and even pets! Not that you should feed your furry friends syrup, but it’s good to know it can’t hurt them.

With no calories, no carbs, and no artificial ingredients, you can be on the most rigorous diet out there, and you can still enjoy your coffee with these syrups.

The packaging is cute, but I’m not a fan of the tiny size. There are around 12 servings per bottle, so you can down it in a matter of days. Unless you buy it in batches, you’ll be spending way too much time shopping online.

  • Sweetener: Monk fruit extract and allulose
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Very limited
  • Standard packaging size: 12 fluid ounces

10. Liquid Planet Organic Coconut Coffee Syrup

These syrups have a thick consistency that makes them great for coffee, ice cream, and pastries as well. There are seven flavors available: almond, caramel, coconut, hazelnut, Irish creme, raspberry, and vanilla syrup. Although they’re not the most exciting options, they’re all exceptionally tasty.

There are no artificial flavors – they’re all extracted from plants. Since they’re made with natural ingredients only, you can expect some settling to occur. When that happens, just shake the bottle, and you’ll get a uniform mixture again.

They don’t contain any preservatives, but due to the organic cane sugar, their shelf life is over a year.

In my opinion, the only real downside is that there’s no sugar-free option. So if you’re on a diet, you might want to stay away from this syrup.

  • Sweetener: Organic cane sugar
  • Sugar-free options: No
  • Flavor range: Decent
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

11. Amoretti Premium Classic Syrups

Here’s a nice gift idea for a fellow coffee addict; this cute little set contains the three most popular flavors: hazelnut, caramel, and vanilla syrup.

There are tons of other flavors available, too, from tres leches and rocky road to jasmine and anise.

My favorite is the birthday cake syrup. That way, for the 364 days of the year when I’m not blowing candles, I can at least pretend it’s my special day by adding this to my coffee.

These syrups are naturally flavored and without artificial preservatives. They contain cane sugar, except for the sugar-free options, which use sucralose instead.

  • Sweetener: Cane sugar
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Huge
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

12. Café Le Rou Coffee Syrup Variety 5-Pack

I quickly get bored drinking the same thing – no matter how tasty it might be. If you’re anything like me, you’ll appreciate variety packs like these.

Café Le Rou doesn’t have a huge range of syrups. In fact, the brand only makes five flavors, and all of them are included in this variety pack. The flavors are classic and include vanilla, caramel, French vanilla, hazelnut, and salted caramel. If you ask me, that’s all I need!

These syrups are sweetened with pure cane sugar. There are roughly about 60-80 calories per serving, which equals two tablespoons.

However, if you’re avoiding sugar altogether, there’s a sugar-free variety pack available as well. These contain sucralose and acesulfame potassium instead of cane sugar, so they have zero calories.

  • Sweetener: Cane sugar
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Limited
  • Standard packaging size: 25.4 fluid ounces

13. Miss Mary’s Sugar-Free Syrups

Coffee syrups don’t have a good reputation because they’re usually high in sugar and are seen as empty calories. Artificial sweeteners aren’t regarded as much better, either. However, if you’re on a diet or prefer to use products with natural ingredients, you can still enjoy flavored coffee.

The idea behind Miss Mary’s was to make syrups that are delicious yet still good for you. To achieve that, the brand uses natural sweeteners, like monk fruit and organic stevia. Neither of them has any calories, but they’re still super sweet.

The flavor range is pretty decent. Aside from classics, you can also get peppermint mocha, gingerbread salted caramel, and spiced vanilla.

  • Sweetener: Monk fruit and organic stevia
  • Sugar-free options: The whole range is sugar-free
  • Flavor range: Decent
  • Standard packaging size: 12.7 fluid ounces

14. Wäbry Organic Syrup – 3 Pack

I’m all about classic flavors like vanilla and caramel for mochas and frappes, but when it comes to lattes and cappuccinos, a pump or two of not-so-common syrup flavors really let me step up my coffee-making game.

This brand has a wide range of flavors, from piña colada to cherry and peach to lavender. They’re not a typical go-to for coffee, but these flavors really complement your java.

If you look at the ingredient list, you’ll notice different things used as sweeteners:

  • Evaporated cane juice
  • Sugar
  • Invert sugar

These are all pretty much the same thing. Evaporated cane juice is also made from sugar cane, just differently processed. Inverted sugar is just sugar in a liquid form.

Of course, there’s nothing wrong with the choice of sweeteners, but it’s something to keep in mind if you’re watching calories or have high blood sugar. Sugar-free options are also available, containing organic erythritol and organic stevia.

  • Sweetener: Sugar
  • Sugar-free options: Yes
  • Flavor range: Wide.
  • Standard packaging size: 14.9 to 16.4 fluid ounces

15. NuNaturals Stevia Syrup

This syrup really gives your coffee a rich flavor without sugar or carbs. It’s also gluten-free and keto-friendly, so it’s suitable for practically everyone, regardless of their diet.

The sweetener in this syrup is stevia, which has no calories and tastes up to 300 times sweeter than sugar; just a pinch added to the formula makes the syrup deliciously sweet. However, the syrup itself is not zero-calorie, as it contains cocoa, spices, and additional flavors. Still, one tablespoon has roughly 40 calories, which is not very high.

The flavor range is not very huge, but it includes the most popular flavors:

  • Chai spice
  • Pumpkin spice
  • Chocolate
  • Salted caramel
  • Maple

A pouch contains just 6.6 fluid ounces of syrup, but you get three in a pack, so you’re set for a while. I’m not very fond of the packaging, as you need to squeeze it like toothpaste to get the last bit out.

  • Sweetener: Stevia
  • Sugar-free options: The whole range is sugar-free
  • Flavor range: Decent
  • Standard packaging size: 6.6 fluid ounces

What To Consider When Buying Coffee Syrup

lots of bottles of coffee syrup
Picking a perfect coffee syrup differ in their ingredients and nutritional values

Buying coffee syrup doesn’t just revolve around picking the perfect flavor. In fact, that’s the easiest part.

Just look at the labels on syrups from different brands. Their ingredients and nutritional values can differ quite a bit. To pick the best one, here are some things to keep in mind.

What Was Used To Sweeten It?

Coffee syrups are supposed to be sweet – but that doesn’t mean they have to contain sugar. There are tons of different ingredients that are commonly used as sweeteners; these include corn syrup, fructose, dextrose, and cane sugar.

All of these are derived from natural sources, but that doesn’t mean they all have the same effect on our bodies

Cane sugar is among the healthier options, especially when unrefined. It’s low in calories but contains amino acids, minerals, and antioxidants.

The sugar we know as table sugar is derived from sugar beets. It goes through extensive processing, which uses bone char. So not only does it lack nutrients, but it’s also not vegan or vegetarian-friendly.

Then, there are artificial sweeteners. They’re hundreds of times sweeter than sugar but have zero calories.

How’s that possible, you might wonder? As you probably know, our tongues are covered with receptors that send signals to our brains to identify a taste.

Artificial sweeteners have a similar chemical structure to sugar, so they activate our sweet receptors, but since our bodies can’t break them down, they have zero calories.

Generally, artificial sweeteners have a bad reputation, but they’re not all the same. The most common artificial sweeteners used are sucralose and aspartame.

Small studies found that sucralose did not impact insulin sensitivity, while others yielded the opposite results. There were also conflicting results when looking at how sucralose impacts gut microbiome health, with some studies finding no change and others noting increased inflammation. So, while the results are still inconclusive, it’s best to consume sucralose in moderation.

Aspartame has been linked with serious health issues. These include cancer and cardiovascular diseases; again, this is yet to be scientifically proven, but until it is, this isn’t the best choice of sweetener.

Coffee Syrups Vs. Other Types Of Flavored Syrups

Coffee syrup dissolve well in hot and cold drinks

What makes coffee syrup different from other kinds of flavored syrup is that it dissolves well in hot and cold drinks.

Cocktail Syrup

These are made to be used for mixed drinks, both alcoholic and virgin.

Cocktail syrups are easily dissolved in cold drinks, but they might not perform as well mixed in hot beverages.

Cooking Syrup

This type of flavored syrup is intended to be used with different textures, including liquids.

For that reason, they can work with coffee too, but keep in mind that they might be higher in calories than coffee syrups.

Agave Nectar

This syrup tastes like molasses with a slight caramel tinge. The darker the syrup, the sweeter the taste.

It’s high in fructose but light in flavor. It also has a low glycemic index (GI), so it shouldn’t cause a major blood sugar spike. For that reason, it’s used more as a natural sweetener than a flavored syrup.

3 Delicious Coffee Syrup Drink Ideas

Peppermint mocha in a mug

  4. Top it with whipped cream and a drizzle of chocolate sauce. Sprinkle on some mini chocolate chips for decoration, if desired.

On hot days, substitute steamed with cold milk and add some ice cubes.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

There’s nothing better than a hot pumpkin spice latte to make a cold winter day a little warmer.

Caffé Mocha

The most popular coffee drinks are often the simplest in terms of ingredients. The caffé mocha is a good example.

Ingredients:

  • Two tablespoons of chocolate syrup
  • Two shots of espresso
  • One cup of steamed milk
  • One cup of heavy whipping cream
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract

Method:

  1. Add two tablespoons of chocolate syrup to a cup.
  2. Make a double shot of espresso, then pour it over the syrup.
  3. Gently pour the steamed milk in until the cup is almost full.
  4. Grab a bowl and mix the whipping cream with vanilla extract. Beat it until soft peaks start to form. This shouldn’t take more than five minutes.
  5. Top the drink with the whipped cream mixture.
