Keurig Supreme Rundown
The base model from the Keurig K Supreme line came out back in the summer of 2020. But it wasn’t long before it became one of the brand’s best-selling coffee makers.
The K Supreme offers a decent amount of customizability for a mid-range Keurig machine.
With drink sizes ranging from 6 to 12 ounces, you can make exactly how much coffee you plan on drinking – without refilling.
If you need a little extra kick from your coffee today, simply press the “strong” button. This will extend the brewing time to make a bolder cup than usual.
And then there’s the “iced coffee” button, which makes a smaller but more concentrated cup of coffee. The idea behind that is that the flavor won’t get as diluted once you pour hot coffee over ice.
The narrow design of this machine makes it suitable for small kitchens. What’s more, you can position the water tank behind or on the side of the unit to make even better use of your counter space.

Keurig Supreme Plus Rundown
Keurig K Supreme Plus came out only a few months after its predecessor. But that was enough time for Keurig to upgrade some important features from the first model, all the while keeping a similar price tag.
The most significant upgrade lies in brew customization.
The K Supreme Plus allows you to choose between three strength and three temperature settings. And aside from 6 to 12-ounce cup sizes, it also offers a 4-ounce option.
Another novelty is that your machine can memorize three different settings, which is handy if your household members have their own coffee preferences.
With a coffee spout set high, you can pour coffee directly into your travel mug or glass that’s up to seven inches tall.
The K Supreme Plus has a tank capacity of whopping 78 ounces. Once refilled, you’re set for days.
The water tank is situated at the back of the coffee maker, so you’ll have to rotate the machine to reach it. Luckily, the K Supreme Plus only weighs about 8 pounds, so moving it won’t be hard.

Keurig Supreme vs Supreme Plus: The Differences & Similarities
Since both of these models come from the same line, they obviously have many similar features.
But there are some key differences between them as well.
Let’s see how they compare in different categories and which one is better.
Serving Sizes
With the K Supreme model, you can make your coffee in four different sizes: 6, 8, 10, and 12 ounces.
The K Supreme Plus offers an additional option of a brew size – a 4-ounce drink.
Now the question is – does the added cup size make much difference?
Well, it depends on how you like your coffee.
By choosing the cup size, you decide how much water will go through a single K cup pod.
So naturally, a 4-ounce cup will be very bold and concentrated, while a 12-ounce coffee will be watered down.
Winner: In this category, K Supreme Plus is a clear winner.
Brew Strength and Temperature
With the K Supreme line, Keurig introduced the new MultiStream technology.
What this does is it uses five streams of water (instead of one) to soak the grounds evenly for optimal extraction.
Both models use this new technology and are currently the only ones to do so.
Keurig K Supreme features a “strong” button that allows you to make a stronger cup of coffee.
Basically, the button increases the brew time by about 30 seconds.
Now, the longer coffee grounds remain in contact with water, the more they’ll get extracted. This will bring out the bold and bitter flavors in your coffee.
What’s more, brew time is also in direct relation to caffeine content. So not only will your cup taste stronger, but it will also give you a high caffeine kick as well.
With the Supreme Plus, you can choose from three brew strength levels, so you can be really finicky when designating your drink.
This model also offers three temperature brew settings, with the exact degree depending on the cup size.
So while the 4-ounce cup can start at 160 degrees, the 12-ounce cup goes up to 172 degrees.
The original Supreme model doesn’t have this feature.
Another cool feature the K Supreme Plus has but its predecessor doesn’t is coffee profiles.
This Keurig brewer allows you to save up to three different drink preferences. It’s handy for households with more than one coffee drinker.
Winner: K Supreme Plus wins again – simply because it offers more options.
Water Tank Capacity
The original model features a water tank with a capacity of 66 ounces, which equals ten 6-ounce cups of coffee, for instance.
The K Supreme Plus goes even larger. With a whooping capacity of 78 ounces, you can make up to thirteen 6-ounce cups before you need to refill the tank.
The more, the merrier, right? But keep in mind that a larger water tank also means a heavier machine.
For a single serve coffee maker, both of these models have quite large water tanks. In most cases, coffee makers this size have a tank capacity of no more than 30 ounces.
Both of these machines have sensors installed in the water reservoir. The sensors alert you when the water level gets too low to brew a whole cup of coffee.
Luckily, their water tanks are easy to remove and refill in the sink.
Winner: Supreme Plus has a slight edge in this category, as it comes with a larger water tank.
Cleaning & Maintenance
Supreme machines alert you when it’s been more than 250 brews since your last descale.
This means you don’t have to set up phone reminders periodically.
The descaling process is pretty simple.
Basically, you add the Keurig descaling solution into the water tank and run the cycle. The whole thing should take no more than 20 minutes.
Winner: In this category, these two machines are tied as they have the same features.
Ease of Use
Wanna bet you’ll never have to use a manual for either Supreme coffee machine in your life?
Both of these models have a simple and straightforward button panel with labels.
Basically, there’s no way you can get it wrong.
The buttons also feature a backlight, which allows you to use the machine in low light.
Winner: Both Supreme models are equal when it comes to ease of use.
Verdict
As you can see, Supreme Plus wins by a lot when you compare its features to its predecessor.
However, I leave the final decision to the individual brewing preferences.
Choose the Supreme Plus if:
- You want to tweak your drink up to your preference by changing brew strength and temperature
- You want to create a different drink profile for your household members
- You want to go days without refilling
Choose the Supreme if:
- You need a smaller machine
- You want to pay less for a coffee maker
- You don’t need too many coffee configuration options
I definitely recommend going with the Supreme Plus if you like to play around with different coffee settings.
But if you like your coffee plain and simple, you can’t go wrong with the original Supreme.
