Nespresso Vertuo Next Review is part of the Nespresso Vertuo machine line.

It features Nespresso’s centrifusion technology. This system uses barcode scanners to figure out exactly what kind of coffee to brew from each Vertuo pod.

This Nespresso machine has a patented upgrade from the Nespresso OriginalLine that punches small holes in the capsules and spins them at 7000 rpm. This creates a rich, crema-topped coffee that’s perfect for espresso lovers.

Just make sure that if you’re going to buy the Nespresso Vertuo Next you know that it only works with Vertuo line capsules. You won’t be able to use any Nespresso capsules from the Original line with the machinery.

Other than that, you’re in for a fantastic, upgraded Nespresso experience.

The Pros

  • It features one-touch functionality, meaning it’s super easy to use
  • It has six cup size options, so you’ve got lots of options when it comes to how much coffee to brew
  • The crema is extra-thick – great for espresso lovers
  • It’s a compact machine, so it’s perfect for smaller kitchens

The Cons

  • It’s on the higher-end of at-home coffee makers – not great for those on a budget
  • It has a loud noise when brewing coffee, so the sound can be annoying to those who have noise sensitivity
  • It doesn’t come with a milk frother, meaning you’ll have to purchase one separately

Features

With the overview out of the way, it’s time to talk specifics.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next has some pretty nifty features, all of which are important to know if you plan on making a purchase.

Here’s what to know about the machine’s features.

Design & Build Quality

In terms of design and build quality, Nespresso really listened to what users had to say.

Users of the Nespresso OriginalLine complained that the machine was a bit clunky. And, as a response, Nespresso came up with a scaled-down design of the Vertuo Next.

In fact, the Vertuo Next is actually the most lightweight and compact coffee machine among all the VertuoLine models!

The machine weighs less than ten pounds and measures 5.5 x 12.4 x 16.8 inches. That’s small enough to tuck into just about any spare counter space.

Another cool aspect of the machine’s design is that it’s made out of 54% eco-friendly materials. As a result, it’s not only a good size, but it’s environmentally friendly, too.

Combine all that and you’ve got a recipe for a well-built yet sustainable brewing device.

Ease of Brewing

Nespresso machines are famous for their simplicity, and Vertuo Next doesn’t disappoint.

The Vertuo Next, despite having a complex brewing technology, has super simple ease of use.

All you have to do is pop a capsule into the machine and press the button on the top. There’ll be a five-second delay while the machine heats up, but after that, it’ll start pouring.

Just like that, you’ve got a fresh cup of coffee!

All this is despite the fact that what’s going on inside the machine is actually pretty advanced.

This Nespresso machine uses a barcode reading system to scan your coffee pod to figure out exactly how to extract the coffee.

That way, it can get you the perfect cup of Joe without any added effort on your part.

Coffee Quality

In terms of coffee quality, the Vertuo Next leaves a little to be desired.

The OriginalLine made Nespresso famous thanks to its super-rich and flavorful espresso. In contrast, Vertuo drinks tend to taste a bit under-extracted.

Despite the under extraction, the Vertuo Next makes a much richer crema than the OriginalLine. In fact, this is one of the reasons why it’s become so popular.

Now, I do have to be honest that this is both a blessing and a curse.

Sure, you get a much thicker, richer crema.

But, the price you have to pay is that the crema tends to be a bit on the frothy side. So, it might not have the same velvety smoothness you’re used to.

Still, despite these flaws, the coffee quality is far from bad. It’s still strong and rich, making it pretty good for an at-home barista brewer.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Back when I worked in the hotel industry, I hated throwing away guests’ Nespresso pods after each use.

Not only did it feel wasteful, but all the pods lying around the place meant that coffee grounds and drips got all over the machine.

The Vertuo Next, however, gets rid of all this.

The Vertuo Next has a Nespresso pod canister attached.

Whenever you open up the machine to insert a new Nespresso Vertuo capsule, the machine automatically removes the coffee capsule and places it in the attached canister.

The result is that there are no coffee grounds or drips to wipe up. Instead, all you do is empty the canister when it gets full (about every 20 pods) and you’re good to go.

On top of that, it has a quick cleaning system to flush out and wash the inside of the device.

The built-in descaling system alerts you when it’s time to run a cycle. Then, just pop in a descaling capsule and turn the machine.

In about fifteen minutes, you’ll have completely cleaned your machine!

Special Features

Nespresso Vertuo Next adapted all the already good features of the VertuoLine machine and made them better.

However, there are a couple of things that are new, making it an even more stand-out device.

For one thing, the Vertuo Next features an 18-ounce carafe, perfect for serving groups of visitors.

Unlike previous machines, which only go up to 14-ounce individual cup sizes, this one actually allows you to serve two drinks in one.

Another standout feature is the WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.

With these features, you can connect your device to the Nespresso app. As part of the app features, you’ll get alerts that let you know when to reset, service, or fill your coffee pod machine.

The app also lets you know about software updates.

This handy feature makes it easier than ever to operate your machine and really sets it apart from the rest of the VertuoLine.

Should I Buy Nespresso Vertuo Next?

Now that you’ve got a good idea of what the Nespresso Vertuo Next is all about, it’s time to figure out whether it’s for you.

There are a couple of things to keep in mind if you’re considering purchasing the Nespresso Vertuo Next.

Let’s take a look at them.

Drink Size

One of the first things to keep in mind when looking at buying the Nespresso Vertuo Next is what size drink you enjoy.

Vertuo Next can produce six different coffee drink options, each of which pours in just 6 seconds.

This is a step up from, say, the Nespresso OriginalLine. The OriginalLine machine only has five drink options, most of which are in smaller sizes.

If your go-to is an espresso drink in the morning, you probably don’t need the Vertuo Next.

However, if you’re a fan of larger cups of coffee or brewing a bigger volume of coffee at once, this might be the machine for you.

Price

While I wish we could all just race out and buy an espresso machine we wanted, for most of us, that’s not the case.

After all, these devices are generally expensive, and Nespresso machines are no exception.

While a Nespresso Vertuo Next machine is certainly cheaper than purchasing a Jura machine, it’s still a hefty investment.

And, it’s a bit of a price jump from the Nespresso OriginalLine.

Before buying Vertuo Next, think about how much you’re willing to spend. And, don’t forget to factor in the cost of the Nespresso capsules

Vertuo pods tend to be a bit more expensive than the OriginalLine pods. So, if you’re on a budget, this might not be right for you.

But, if you’re okay with splurging a little bit, the Vertuo Next could be a good pick.

Kitchen Space

The Vertuo Next is a pretty compact machine. In other words, it fits well in just about any kitchen space.

All this is despite the fact that it has even better coffee technology than some of the clunkier machines on the market.

If kitchen space is important to you, the Nespresso Vertuo Next could be just what the doctor ordered.

However, if you don’t care about limited space, you could think about going for a bigger option. Keeping this in mind can help you determine whether or not this machine is a good fit for you.

The Verdict

With this Nespresso Vertuo Next review, you’re ready to get out there and start making some quality coffee.

The Nespresso Vertuo Next has a sleek and compact design that makes it easy to fit in any size of home or office.

At the same time, it’s got some of the best Nespresso technology and tons of drink options. As a result, it’s a versatile and convenient machine for any coffee lover.

So, pick up your own Nespresso Vertuo Next and start enjoying everything this fantastic machine has to offer!
